Who are Melissa and Doug 12 inch dolls for?
The 12 inch dolls are designed for use by children ages 18 months or older. Around 18 months of age, children begin playing simple pretend games such as feeding and nurturing a doll. They also love to hand things to others as a way to play with them.
By giving a child a doll you are helping to grow the child’s empathic skills as well as meeting some of their basic social and emotional needs. Dolls encourage children to create their own little imaginary worlds, as opposed to problem solving or building games. Playing with dolls could also help them rehearse for some of the social skills they will need later in life.
Melissa and Doug’s 12 inch dolls is the ideal size for a toddler to hold and snuggle. At weighing less than a pound they are very easy to be carried around by smaller hands.
