First are going to talk about when the Barbie dolls came into conception. When did Mattel create the iconic doll that is predominantly known as Barbie?
The answer to this question may surprise you. It turns out, in late 1955 manufacturer sketches were first drawn of what would eventually be called “Barbie.” The name itself originated from one of his sons’ girlfriends who allegedly asked for an ‘arb-babe’ – which we now know means ‘action figure.’ This small actionable male figurine became popular among American troops stationed overseas during World folklore developed about him after he was featured on postwar ration pamphlets issued by General Foods Corporation under its Helen Keller breakfast cereal campaign between 1948 and 1962 (!)
